How to Participate

Thank you for your interest in Parker's Walk. There are three ways to participate - just select the way that works best for you:

  • Raise Funds
  • Raise Awareness
  • Sponsor a Walker

    • Read below for details on how to participate using any of these options.

    Raising Funds for Parker's House

    If you would like to raise funds for Parker's House by walking in Parker's Walk, please take the following steps. The minimum total amount to raise is $25.00, which entitles you to a t-shirt commemorating the event and a Parker's Walk fun bag (select the link below that corresponds to the t-shirt size you would like):

    • 1. Sign me up! Sign up for Parker's Walk by selecting your t-shirt size: NOTE: Please be sure to sign up before September 13 or your t-shirt will not be ready in time for the walk.
    • 2. Get some sponsors! Click this link to the sponsor registration form, print a copy and start getting people to sponsor your walk. As you work with your potential sponsors, please tell them a little about the mission of Parker's House and be sure to write down their e-mail address or their mailing address so we can send them a note thanking them for their contribution. If they are interested in becoming a Friend of Parker's House, put a checkmark in the box beside their address and we will add them to our newsletter mailing list.
    • 3. Show up! On Saturday, October 16, 2010, show up at the statue of Washington Duke on the East Campus of Duke University. Remember, the earlier you show up, the better your parking spot will be. When you register at the registration table, turn in your sponsor form and money, then collect your t-shirt and fun bag!

    Please note that Parker's Walk will take place rain or shine - so if it is raining and/or you have some other reason that you can not be there, just let us know and we can work out the details of exchanging your t-shirt, fun bag and contributions.

    That's it! That's all it takes to participate in this event. If you have any further questions about Parker's Walk, please send an email and we will respond as soon as possible.

    Raising Awareness for Parker's House

    Not sure you want to raise any funds but you would still like to participate? It's easy - just show up and walk! We won't be able to give you a t-shirt or a Parker's Walk fun bag, but we would appreciate your support by coming out and walking with us. Just meet us at the Washington Duke statue on Duke's East Campus at 9am, Saturday, October 16.

    Sponsoring a Walker

    If you can't make it on October 16th but you would still like to help raise money for Parker's House, select the Donate tab (above). As you fill out the donation information, please indicate in the Notes field the name of the walker you would like to sponsor and we'll take care of the rest! If you don't have a walker in particular that you would like to support, just leave the Notes field blank. Either way, your cash contribution will go a long way toward helping Parker's House fight homelessness ... one family at a time.
