November 2, 2009:

Check out our latest video! In it, we include the computer that was recently donated by three Friends of Parker's House, the donations collected by the Lone Wolf Ryders motorcycle club, and an interview with our current resident. In keeping with our policy of strict anonymity of our residents, she is not shown on-screen - however, she was anxious to let everyone know how much she appreciates the help that you have given her and her family, so she asked to be included. This video is our longest yet, running at just under 4-minutes and all of you from my generation may recognize the background music - a big-band version of one of an all-time favorite church youth group songs from the late 70's.

Thank you for your recent donations that have included TVs, kitchen items, curtains, furniture, toys and cash. With your help, we are providing our resident family with a more comfortable place to live, plus some really nice items that they can take with them as they move to permanent housing. Not only that, but some of your cash contributions treated them to a day of fun at Emerald Point Wet and Wild Water Park!

As a "thank you" for your continued support for Parker's House, here is a link to our new video that we made as we moved in some of the furniture, toys, TV and other items that you donated. Feel free to share this link with anyone that you think would be interested in becoming a Friend of Parker's House.

Parker's House is now a registered non-profit corporation in North Carolina and recognized by the IRS as a Tax Exempt organization. There is still one more step toward full recognition as a Federal Tax Exempt 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Our goal is to complete this process by September. Starting now, though, all donations made to Parker's House, including cash contributions, are considered tax exempt by the IRS.

March 14, 2009:

On March 14, 2009, a family of 4 (a single Mom with a 13 year-old daughter and twin 18 month-olds) moved into Parker's House. With your help, we were able to turn empty rooms into a cozy transitional home for this family as they prepare to move to permanent housing. We expect them to stay 3 to 6 months.

As a "thank you" for your help in establishing Parker's House, here is a link to a video that we made as we "set up house" for this family. Feel free to share this link with anyone that you feel may be interested in becoming a Friend of Parker's House.
