How to register for Parker's Ride:

Press the "Register" tab and follow the directions. Registration entitles you to a Parker's Ride numbered placard which must be visible in each location photo in order to receive points, your personalized Parker's Ride logbook which includes a list of all rules, locations and bonus stops, and a couple of Parker's House pens. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail when your registration form has been received and your ride materials will be sent to you on April 25.

All certified finishers (to be a certified finisher, you must have visited > 49 of the locations in the video) will receive an official Parker's Ride t-shirt, which will be available at the October 2 Group Ride. For those unable to make it to the Oct. 2 ride, their t-shirts will be mailed to them.

Each person or group finishing all 98 stops will recieve a beautiful poster suitable for framing showing his/her/their photo at each location. The posters are certified and each is uniquely created for the participant(s).

How it works:

  • Your official log book will contain all rules, video locations, bonus locations and point values. You will receive your log book several days before May 1. If you sign up after May 1, your registration materials will be sent as soon as your registration is complete.
  • Parker's Ride officially begins May 1, 2010.
  • As a participant, you must prove you were physically present at each location with a photo containing the following 3 elements: 1) Your own personal numbered placard that you received with your registration materials; 2) Either yourself or your vehicle holding the placard; 3) some landmark clearly proving you visited the location.
  • Landmarks can include city limits signs, school signs clearly showing the town name, US Post Offices showing the town name, Fire and Police stations, Churches, etc.
  • Several of the locations in the video do not have any visible markers showing the name of the stop. In these cases, your photo MUST be at the same location as the one in the video. These will be listed in your log books. No exceptions will be made.
  • For all bonus locations and activities, each one is described in your log books along with detailed instructions on how to prove you were there.
  • All photos must be submitted by midnight, September 30, 2010 EST. Any photos received after that time will not be considered in your point total, but will be used for your t-shirt (visiting more than 49 location) or for your personalized poster if you made it to all 98 locations.
  • Parker's Ride officially ends September 30, 2010.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to ride a motorcycle? No. This is a fund-raiser for a worthy cause, so anyone can participate and use any vehicle they want. Just because I did it on a motorcycle (and trust me - that's the most fun way to do the ride) it doesn't mean you have to. My wife did Parker's Ride in a car. You can use a scooter, car, bus, bicycle - anything you want as long as you follow the rules.

Why do I have to pay a registration fee if I'm going to get sponsors, too? Parker's Ride is a fund-raiser to help families get back on their feet following a period of homelessness. All of the registration fee is used to support the ride - logbooks, t-shirts, posters, closing ride, prizes etc. 100% of the money you raise in addition to your registration fee will go directly to the support of Parker's House in it's mission to help families who have recently suffered a period of homelessness.

Do I have to attend the closing ride in October? No, but you'll be missing out on a fun time if you can't make it. Plus, that's where we'll hand out small prizes and you'll have your chance to earn more points. More details will be provided in your logbook.

What are the points for, anyway? Prizes will be distributed to those who get the most points. It makes it more fun, too.

Are there any other ways to win prizes? Yes. We'll have prizes for the cheeziest photo, the most creative photo, first person/team to finish all 98 stops, oldest, youngest, etc. A complete list will be included in your registration materials.

How can my group participate? For motorcycle clubs, Youth Groups, Sunday School classes, neighborhoods, families, etc. - each participant from your group will receive their own personal placard. To make it easier for groups to participate, all members don't have to be at each of the stops. Some ideas for doing this include dividing all of the stops between your group members and each member getting his/her stops separately. For example, if you have 4 people in your group, you can divide the state into quadrants and each participant will go to all stops in his/her assigned quadrant. This is particularly good for families whose members live throughout the state. If your group covers all 98 locations, each group member receives a digital copy of the poster so they can print and frame it for a treasured keepsake.

What if I register and then have to back out? You can cancel your registration and receive a refund of your registration fee before midnight, April 24, 2010. Once your registration materials have been mailed to you at 8am on April 25, 2010, you can no longer receive a refund of your registration fee. The reason for this is that all of the registration fee goes toward making Parker's Ride happen. Once we've mailed your materials to you, most fo the fee will have been used.
